Anyway, I've ended up with a Foley Belsaw model 311. 1x42 belt, 8" disc sander. Powered by a GE 1/2 horse, 3450 rpm motor. It's fresh out of long term storage, so it is fairly dirty, and the machined table is rusty, as you'd expect. Seems complete, other than the table for the belt. Runs smoothly, doubt the bearings even need to be replaced.

It doesn't look like it has provisions for wet grinding either. By the way, Foley Belsaw does have one in stock at only $160.00! I bought this thing to play with and to see if I could help a few people out while making some "eating out money". It will sharpen up to 14" blades, so I probably could use a little smaller diameter if necessary.
I saw a Foley-Belsaw grinder and sharpening system at a garage sale yesterday. It didn't sell. It has jigs for sharpening table saw blades. Does anyone have any experience with this? Will it be more trouble than it worth learning how to use it? The guy's father paid thousads of dollars for it. I think I can get it all for $50. Chris
I bought this grinder last year and it never got used much, I used 1x42 inch belts on it, Its made by belsaw foley. It has a 3/4 hp motor on it and seems to work well, Probally needs to be greased up and all. When you turn it on you have to hold the tension arm down to get it going but it runs go...
I plan on making a fixture to sharpen large drill bits in the 1/2" to 1 1/2" range. I will use this fixture to grind a "four-facet" tip on the drills. Another fixture will sharpen slitting saws. I will be able to mount a rotary table and tail-stock for grinding things like reamers and such. Foley made two machines model 374 and 380.

I got an old 308 grinder that's sharpened miles of chains. It's a well built grinder. Foley has always been good to me when ordering wheels.
