Re: Second 2" X 72" Belt Grinder Build. It is a 3/4" steel rod cut in short lengths drilled out to 5/16" then taped 3/8"X16 after welding. I found many time welding a nut on you still needed to run a tap through due to shrinkage. I also generally tap the metal I weld the rod to at the same time for a longer threaded hole.
