The Rusnok looks nice, but has all the same limitations of a mill drill. No accurate way to move in the z direction, except the quill, which only has a travel of 1.5" or so. Back when I still had my Vernon horizontal I thought pretty hard about buying a new Rusnok head for it to create a mini-Bridgeport type machine.
That is a Rusnok 70 Milling Head, takes "Y" collets. The Rusnok is mounted on the 2 inch horizontal overarm. There is a Rusnok Mill yahoo group with lots of documentation. For any vertical milling that this machine can not do, I'll use my Rusnok milling machine. The swivel indexing head is the older style without the name. This is the power feed drive system. I'll tune the drive shaft in a few days. The power feed is controlled by this lever.

Suggestion: put a Rusnok or Bridgeport M head onto a small benchtop horizontal mill like a Burke No 4 or equivalent. The Rusnok is professional quality with quill, and the Burke gives you better z-axis than the native Rusnok mount. Hi all, I recently picked up a Taiwanese clone of a Rusnok milling machine, circa 1980s. Cool little mill, and everything seemed in order. The previous owner reported that the spindle possessed an R8 taper, and by all accounts that would seem correct, but I'm encountering a d issue when trying to install R8 tooling.

The Rusnok head has also been adapted to many horizontal mills to give them vertical capacity. Another small milling machine, this with a knee, is the Benchmaster. These are no longer manufactured, but appear from time to time on eBay. They lack downfeed on the quill and use MT#2 collets, but otherwise are very nice small machines. Jim H. Guero
